DISCOVER WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH TOM
St Patrick’s College
We had the great pleasure of having Tom Boyd as a guest at St Patrick’s College on Friday 20th October 2023.
Tom spoke to over 210 people at this year’s brekky and wowed the audience with his story. You could not hear a pin drop as Tom told of his upbringing, his talent as a junior athlete and then the challenges of insomnia, anxiety and depression which ultimately led to him leaving the sport of AFL at the peak of his powers. Tom spoke with raw honesty. Each and every guest in the room was moved by the powerful presentation and with Tom’s authentic delivery.
We would highly recommend Tom as a speaker for any event. His message is all so important in an age where our mental health and resilience seem to be regularly challenged. Tom’s presentation style is genuine, natural and down to earth. His story is powerful.
Multiplex
As part of Safety Month, Multiplex Constructions held a breakfast at the Grand Hyatt on Friday the 27th of October 2023.
This breakfast was attended by our subcontractors along with some of our very important clients.
Mental Health Awareness was a big focus on this year’s breakfast so our very special guest speaker was Tom Boyd.
Tom got up and spoke to a very captive audience as he detailed his own struggles with mental heath, anxiety and depression.
Tom was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Nothing was too hard or out of the question with Tom.
You will not be disappointed at having Tom speak at your next event.
CFA Victoria
Tom Boyd's story, is about a young man who made difficult life decisions because of the effects of living in a stressful environment, much like many of our firefighters.
Tom wanted to learn about our volunteer CFA members, especially about their dedication and community spirit. During each of these Flood Recovery events Tom held a variety of conversations, interacted with our volunteers kids, signed autographs and treated everyone with the utmost respect.
Bringing speakers to our Flood Recovery events requires trust in the speaker, trust that he will treat our volunteers with respect and empathy. Tom certainly did all of this.
We have many more Flood Recovery events to organise across Victoria, I am sure Tom will be involved in more of these events.

‘Tom’s session was the highlight of our two-day national event. Wise beyond his years, Tom’s journey provides a genuine and honest insight into the highs and lows of professional sport with learnings that can be applied to the corporate world. Terrifically inspiring and engaging, we can’t wait to work with Tom again in the future.’
Pitcher Partners
Minters Ellison
On RU OK Day, Tom presented via a National Webex to over 250 Partners and staff with deep insight and maturity. He spoke about the challenges of mental health issues, and his own challenging journey.
His observations from the world of high-performance professional sport were highly relevant to our corporate world in professional & legal services.
Tom was candid demonstrating an acute awareness that the solution for each individual may be different.
He is a considered voice, speaking about important issues, at an important time.
Coca Coca Amatil
Tom, thank you for sharing your story, learnings and advice on mental health, wellbeing and resilience with our team at Coca-Cola Amatil ahead of R U Ok? day.
We have a wonderfully diverse team here and our safety motto is ‘get home to what you love’.
You engaged with every member of the team in a professional, thoughtful and approachable way and helped us to make mental health more visible.
You could have presented as an AFL football star, but you offered so much more.

Tom Boyd has been an ambassador for WorkSafe since 2021, traveling throughout regional Victoria to participate in our country football netball club events. We frequently receive positive feedback about how Tom is helping shift community perceptions about mental health by sharing his own experience. When Tom shares his story, the room is silent; his manner and message resonate with a broad and diverse audience. His professionalism and thorough preparation ensure that every engagement is impactful. We are proud to work with Tom in championing the importance of mental health and making a difference in the lives of Victorians.

Super Investment
Tom Boyd presented to our team of approx. 65 staff and we were all impressed with how open he was about such a personal and difficult topic. Tom had our attention for the full length of his talk and didn’t discredit any clubs or players in the process.
I liked that he shared some of the ways he tried to overcome it and can see what an awesome role model he would be for young people going through similar situations. Fantastic presentation and speaker and would highly recommend having Tom present to your team.
Rail Infrastructure Alliance
The Rail Infrastructure Alliance which is part of the states Metro Tunnel Project, invited Tom to speak to the entire workforce as part of their mental health activations during Movember.
Personally anyone who can get a construction workforce of 100+ to reflect and open up as effectively as Tom did is invaluable – I’m sure his talked has reassured some of the people in the highest risk industry to reach out for support and highlighted the value of checking in with colleagues/mates/family and having a conversation about mental health.
Year 12 Student Leader – Camberwell High
Tom's willingness and honesty to share his experience of his time at school and with his football career was truly inspiring with all the adversity he had gone through at just a young age whilst succeeding in both.
This was really eye-opening, teaching us that you never really know what's going on in a person's life and letting these challenges stick by you is not the right way to face it.
He was happy to answer any questions, whether it regarded his football career or his mental health, which he opened up to us about.
Very grateful to meet and listen to Tom's stories and have gotten some great insights into one of the biggest years of my life.

Tom Boyd completed his visit to Westbourne last Friday and I can easily state that Tom was perhaps one of the finest guest speakers our School has ever had. He was evidently well prepared, his talk was planned, sequenced logically and full of tangible advice for our students.
Everyone who heard him speak was impressed and I’ve actually been overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback we received following the event. Tom really exceeded our expectations on this occasion.
